Craigieburn's New Murals Celebrate Community Culture and Connection

The Craigieburn Road Legacy Art Trail was officially unveiled in mid-December 2024, featuring 30 traffic signal boxes beautified with artwork by 7 local artists reflecting themes of connection, culture and environment.

These installations contribute to the suburb's creative and cultural identity by placing artwork directly into everyday public spaces. The trail forms part of ongoing efforts to integrate art with the local landscape and community life.

Youth Centre Collaboration

Street artists Chuck and Cax created a mural at the Craigieburn Youth Centre at 59 Craigieburn Rd by collaborating with young local people to design artwork reflecting the area's energy and landscapes. This project involved direct input from residents in the creation process.

Plaza and Park Installations

Caroline Le Jeune, a French artist living in Melbourne, installed the multi-panel 'Seasons Craigieburn Plaza Pillars' artwork on pillars inside Craigieburn Plaza at 10 Craigieburn Rd. 'The Gateway' mural at 120 Hothlyn Drive features the native Sun moth and local flora, while artist Clare McCracken created a public artwork for the South entrance of ANZAC Park.

These named locations anchor the artworks in recognisable community sites, allowing residents to encounter the pieces during routine visits.

Planned Expansion

A new mural is planned for the Aitken Boulevard Underpass near Malcolm Creek Wetlands to enhance community pride in the expanding suburb, as part of the Hume Mural Program. The project continues the pattern of site-specific works already completed in the area.
