Three Artists Transform Roxburgh Park Town Centre With Wildlife Murals

The Monarch Butterflies mural by Sai Neoh, also known as Bonsai, stands as the largest mural currently in the Hume region and draws directly from the area’s native flora and fauna. The piece forms part of a wider set of massive bespoke murals installed on the exterior wall of the Roxburgh Park Town Centre shopping centre.

The Artists and Their Approach

Three street artists, Twoone, Bonsai and Sofles, produced the works. Each is recognised for colourful, massive bespoke murals, a style that matched the brief for the dynamic exterior pieces at the development. The project was curated by Duro Cubrilo and designed to capture local elements such as birds and wildlife within a sustainable framework.

Collaboration With Centre Management

The Monarch Butterflies mural was realised through collaboration with Vicinity Centre Management. It now serves as a visible focal point for the Roxburgh Park community hub, linking the shopping centre’s exterior to the surrounding neighbourhood.

Local Elements in the Design

The murals at Roxburgh Park Shopping Centre were created to encapsulate birds and wildlife drawn from the immediate area. The artists selected these motifs to reflect the site’s setting while working within the constraints of the shopping centre’s exterior wall.

Residents and visitors encounter the completed works as they move through the town centre. The combination of scale, colour and local subject matter gives the exterior a consistent visual identity that ties the development to its surroundings.
