Craigieburn's $68 Million Retail Hub and New Homes Advance

A $68 million retail hub called Aston Square is under construction at 179 Elevation Boulevard and expected to open in late 2026, featuring a full-line supermarket, gym, childcare and over 18 new businesses.

Construction of Aston Square is underway at the specified address in Craigieburn. The project includes multiple commercial elements that will serve local residents once complete. Opening is slated for late 2026, which sets a firm timeline for final fit-out and leasing decisions.

Residential Releases and Park Integration

Developer Peet Limited released 802 new residential lots including townhomes in March 2026 inside the 62-hectare Aston Craigieburn community. Construction on those lots began early 2026 together with a new linear park named The Greenline. These releases add to the area’s housing pipeline at a time when further approvals and staging decisions remain to be finalised.

Other Active Infrastructure Projects

Additional projects currently in construction include the True North Estate, Merrifield City Centre with its shopping centre component, and The Base Craigieburn. These sit alongside the Aston Square and Aston Craigieburn work, creating overlapping construction schedules that local authorities and developers must coordinate.

Craigieburn recorded approximately 363 dwelling development approvals per year on average, for a total of around 1,816 approved homes between FY-21 and FY-25, plus an additional 111 approved in FY-26. This volume of prior approvals provides context for the current construction activity and the decisions still required on sequencing and infrastructure support.

Key decisions ahead centre on coordinating opening dates, park delivery and lot staging so the projects connect effectively for residents. Project teams and local planning bodies will need to confirm final timelines and service connections before the late-2026 retail opening.
