Craigieburn Council Advances Community Support Through Services and Infrastructure Decisions

Hume City Council has updated its Rates Financial Hardship Policy to allow ratepayers to set up payment plans and avoid penalty interest, following 12 months of community feedback ahead of a June 2027 review. Road and transport measures
The Craigieburn Road Upgrade included a full closure between Hanson Road and Bridgewater Road from 23 June until 19 August to allow safe completion of works, with the broader project due for 2025 finish. Family and parenting programs
Free parenting support includes the eight-week Babies in Hume group for first-time parents at Aitken Hill Community Centre. The Craigieburn Community Services Hub at 120 Hothlyn Drive runs family services and parenting skills programs. Additional playgroups operate at the Craigieburn Education and Community Centre on Wednesdays from 9am to 11am and at The Salvation Army on Tuesdays from 9:30am to 10am. headspace Craigieburn delivers the Tuning in to Teens program, while Parentline Victoria offers 24-hour counselling on 13 22 89.
Community facilities under way
Stage 1 of the Craigieburn Sports Stadium upgrade, worth 17.8 million dollars, added car parking and a café, with Stage 2 now in planning. Construction of the new Craigieburn Community Centre on Highlander Drive continues, with an expected 2025 opening for maternal health, playgroups and spaces for youth and older residents. The Victorian Planning Authority has gazetted the Craigieburn West precinct to deliver new neighbourhoods, a town centre, schools and community hubs.
