Doncaster Upgrades Target Everyday Life in Mexborough and Moorends

A £16 million Levelling Up initiative is revitalizing the Mexborough and Moorends neighborhoods, with work due to conclude by March 2027. The funding targets street-level changes that residents use daily, from market spaces to parking and small parks.

These projects arrive as outline plans for 390 homes in the third phase of the Carr Lodge Balby extension have been approved on land east of Woodfield Way. A separate partnership between Strata and Great Places Housing Group is delivering 53 new affordable homes at Lutterworth Drive. Changes planned for Mexborough and Moorends

In Mexborough the indoor market is set to become a food hall. A p park is listed for York Square. A multi-storey car park will be removed to create free parking. Moorends will gain a pocket park with a mural at Wembley Road. Playgrounds at Darlington Grove are due for upgrades. A renewable energy initiative is planned at the Pig Hill allotments. Housing additions and practical effects

The 390-home Carr Lodge Phase 3 scheme and the 53 homes at Lutterworth Drive increase the supply of new properties inside Doncaster.
