Local advocates with the Downtown Workers Coalition note that the new routes will connect the industrial park on the east side directly to the main rail station, a link previously absent from the network map.

Residents living along the proposed Maple Grove extension will gain service to the municipal hospital and the county courthouse complex, locations that currently require transfers for many shift workers at the nearby manufacturing plants.

The legislation states that the $85 million will purchase 22 new buses and fund 18 months of operating costs, with the authority's own projections estimating an additional 9,500 daily boardings once all routes open.
