Investor Money Reignites Bidding Wars for Ringwood Family Homes
Fresh capital from returning buyers has lifted bidding wars on family houses in several Ringwood postcodes since late spring.
How we reported this
Land Registry records released on 7 July show 14 investor purchases completed in Ringwood in the second quarter of 2026, more than double the three recorded in the same period last year.
The increase follows months of flat activity after the 2025 interest-rate peak, when many private landlords paused new acquisitions. Estate agents report that renewed demand has pushed average days on market down from 47 in March to 29 by the end of June, with multiple offers now routine on three-bedroom terraces priced between £380,000 and £410,000.
Bidding pressure on Christchurch Road and Hightown Road
Properties listed on Christchurch Road near the Furlong Shopping Centre have drawn the strongest response. One three-bedroom semi-detached house at number 62 received four offers within ten days, closing £18,000 above the £395,000 guide price on 28 June. Similar patterns appeared on Hightown Road, where two former buy-to-let flats sold after sealed bids organised by the Ringwood branch of the Dorset & Wiltshire estate agency.
Ringwood Town Council’s empty-homes grant scheme, which offers up to £8,000 for refurbishment of long-vacant units, has also drawn investor attention. Three applications submitted in May cited the grant as part of their purchase plans, according to council minutes published last week.
Price data and next steps for buyers
Figures compiled by the local branch of Countrywide show the median sale price in Ringwood postcode BH24 reached £427,500 in June 2026, up 4.1 per cent from the March average. Terraced homes recorded the largest movement, rising 6.3 per cent to £362,000.
Buyers seeking to compete should secure mortgage agreements in principle before viewing and set aside an additional 3 to 5 per cent above guide prices on streets with recent investor activity. Those targeting the Ringwood School catchment may also benefit from checking weekly updates from the town council’s planning portal for any new listings before they reach the open market.
