Venue upgrades support year-round use
Albert Park continues to host major events while construction proceeds on the Pit Building redevelopment that will add 14 F1 garages, new race control and seven indoor sport courts. The work begins after the 2026 Grand Prix and is scheduled for completion by April 2028. A separate $6.6 million sports facility upgrade includes a new pavilion at Field 14 and 15 plus lighting and energy efficiency work across nine facilities, with the pavilion started in late 2025 and due for mid-2026 handover.
These projects run alongside a 1.9 km branch sewer upgrade by South East Water that is also set for mid-2026 completion. The combined activity keeps Albert Park in the top 10 percent nationally for infrastructure projects and supports both elite racing and local club use.
Carlos Sainz won the 2026 F1 Australian Grand Prix at the same circuit after Max Verstappen retired with a brake issue, finishing ahead of Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris. That result sits alongside Kostecki's haul as the weekend's headline performances at the venue.
Teams will now prepare for the next Supercars meeting while the pit building early works continue through at least June. Local clubs can expect improved changerooms and courts once the Field 14 and 15 pavilion opens later this year.
