Albert Park Venues Host October School Athletics Meet With New Rules

The revised timetable for the 11 October 2025 APS lead-up meet places shot put in the throwing area outside the stadium and discus inside the stadium, reflecting ongoing adjustments to local infrastructure for school events.

This setup matters now because the annual meet draws multiple schools to Albert Park venues each spring, testing how existing facilities handle age-group track and field without overlapping on the infield. Local athletes and officials rely on these arrangements to keep events moving safely and on time.

Facility rules guide event flow

Notes in the schedule direct all 800-metre, 400-metre and 4x100-metre participants to marshal off the track rather than on the grassed infield, which remains out of bounds throughout the day. Long jump and triple jump share designated west and east pits, while high jump and shot put receive their own marked areas at staggered start times beginning at 12.10pm.

The document lists 3000-metre, 800-metre, 100-metre, 200-metre, 1500-metre, 400-metre and relay events on the track from 12.20pm onward, with field events running alongside at separate stations. Schools including GGS, HY, CAUL, GC, MGS, SKC, BGS, CY, SC and XC are assigned responsibility for specific events such as starters, hurdles, shot put and discus, and must supply their own measuring tapes.
