Altona Youth Opens Registration for Soccer, Netball Tournaments Through 2026

Online registration has opened for a series of youth tournaments run by the Sports Federation of Melbourne, with several events set to take place at Westgate Indoor Sports on the corner of Grieve Parade and Doherty's Road in Altona North.
Altona residents with children in primary and secondary school now have a direct path to enter teams in soccer, netball, basketball and other codes without waiting for school terms to begin. The timing matters because entry deadlines fall between February and May next year, giving families several months to organise squads, confirm eligibility by grade level and complete paperwork before spots fill.
Local venues and grade rules
Westgate Indoor Sports will host the soccer tournament for students from Grade 1 upward, with separate dates for high-school boys and girls on 15 February, youth and adults 30-plus on 22 February, and primary-school players on 7 March. Netball for girls and mixed teams from Grade 7 upward is listed for 1 March at the same Altona North facility. Basketball events for primary and high-school girls on 8 March plus high-school boys, youth and adults 30-plus on 9 March will instead be held at Mill Park Basketball Stadium. Additional tournaments cover chess from Grade 4, table tennis from the same level, volleyball from Grade 7 and squash from youth level onward. Venues range from the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Melbourne in Donvale for chess to MSAC Stadium in Albert Park for table tennis, volleyball and squash. Each code requires teams to meet the minimum grade requirement stated on the federation page and to submit forms before the published cut-off. Details such as exact team sizes, match formats and any equipment notes appear in the downloadable PDFs attached to the individual sport listings. Residents are advised to review those documents early, confirm player grades with schools and complete payment through the online system to secure places ahead of the February and March deadlines.
