Berwick Expands Sports Facilities With New Pavilions for Curling, Soccer

Construction on a $5 million expansion to Berwick's Apple Dome recreation facility is set to begin later this month, adding a new curling club, fitness centres and dressing rooms.

Apple Dome and Curling Club Transition

The Berwick Curling Club is moving from its Orchard Street location to the new Larsen Curling Centre at the Kings Century Centre. The facility is expected to open this fall once construction finishes in July. These changes at the Apple Dome and Kings Century Centre will provide updated spaces for curling and fitness activities.

Recreation Reserve Pavilions

An upgraded inclusive pavilion at Grices Road Recreation Reserve in Berwick opened in April 2024 with new multipurpose spaces and accessible amenities for local soccer and cricket clubs. A separate new sports facility pavilion at Berwick Chase Recreation Reserve is now open after funding from a $1.4 million Victorian Government investment and $1.75 million from the City of Casey.

Berwick Academy Site Plans

Bidding is set to start for a £47 million rebuild of Berwick Academy that includes a new 3G sports facility and a refurbished hockey pitch on the existing site. These projects focus on the venues and infrastructure that host sport across the area.

The developments follow earlier work at the Apple Dome site. They address needs for dedicated spaces used by clubs for training and matches. Dates and funding amounts appear in project announcements tied to each location.
