Cranbourne Eagles Shape 135 Years of Community Sport
Established in 1889, the Cranbourne Football Club continues to serve as the backbone for community connection and competition in the Southern Football Netball League.
How we reported this

The Cranbourne Football Club, better known as the Eagles, maintains a deep-rooted presence in the regional sporting scene. Competing in the top flight of the Southern Football Netball League, the club has operated from its base at Livingston Reserve on Parkhurst Drive since its inception in 1889. This longevity establishes the organization as a cornerstone of the local community, fostering participation across multiple levels of play.
Building Community Through Diverse Participation
The club’s commitment to inclusivity remains a primary focus of its operations. Beyond the senior, reserves, and U19 football teams, the Eagles maintain two dedicated All Abilities teams. These squads compete within the Football Integration Development Association, providing a structured environment for athletes of all capabilities to participate in the sport. This layered approach ensures that the club remains a focal point for residents, whether they are pursuing elite competition or seeking recreational engagement.
Community spirit is bolstered by the integration of sports into the broader regional infrastructure. Students across Cranbourne access interschool athletic and football programs through facilities like the Casey Fields Athletics Track on Berwick-Cranbourne Road. Educational institutions including Cranbourne Secondary College, Cranbourne West Secondary College, and Cranbourne East Secondary College facilitate regular interschool programs through School Sport Victoria. These pathways often draw from the same local interest that supports the Eagles, creating a consistent culture of athletics and team sports throughout the city.
Refining Competitive Standards
For the senior team, the focus remains on consistent performance and tactical development. The 2025 season saw the club prioritize squad reinforcement, integrating recruits including Damon Krake, Lewis Robbins, Luke Morrell, Kyle Lanham, and Sam Cooke to bolster its roster. These moves followed a 2024 campaign where the Eagles secured a 5th-place finish with a 9-8-1 record. During that same period, captain Zak Roscoe demonstrated individual leadership, finishing as the club’s leading goalkicker with 33 goals.
As the season progresses, the club continues to balance the demands of the Southern Football Netball League with its history of local development. Supporters and participants alike can look to the club’s ongoing recruitment efforts and its commitment to the U19 and All Abilities programs as the primary engines for its continued relevance in the years ahead.
