Box Hill Launches Expanded AI Workshops and Digital Study Courses

Neighbourhood Houses in the City of Whitehorse will deliver government-funded AI Literacy Hub workshops at Box Hill South Neighbourhood House during July and August 2026, extending the free program launched in late 2025.

The workshops target digitally excluded groups including older people, migrants and refugees, providing practical instruction on AI tools after earlier Be Connected Program sessions ran in June. This sequence follows the 2025 launch and positions the Hub as the immediate next step for participants who completed introductory modules.

Delivery sites and school resources

AME Education runs Digital Literacy for Study courses at both Beginners and Post-beginners levels from its Box Hill campus at 30-32 Prospect Street. Box Hill High School maintains its 1:1 laptop program while drawing on Department of Education materials such as Bullystoppers and guidance from the Office of the Children’s eSafety Commissioner to embed digital safety lessons.

These sites operate alongside the 29 Neighbourhood Houses in the NIECH network, creating a distributed delivery model that already reaches residents across the area without requiring travel to a single central venue.

Mentor base and program continuity

NIECH has trained more than 600 Digital Mentors since 2019, supplying facilitators who support the upcoming AI Literacy Hub sessions and the Be Connected workshops still listed for the remainder of 2026. The mentor count provides a ready pool for scaling instruction as demand grows from the current schedule.
