Box Hill Digital Programs Train 500+ Residents in AI Tools

AMES Australia runs government-subsidized Digital Literacy for Study courses at the Beginners and Post-beginners levels from its site at 30-32 Prospect Street, Box Hill, with weekday sessions from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The courses cover everyday digital tasks and online learning platforms that support entry into tech-related work.
AI workshops set for August
Box Hill South Neighbourhood House will host an English-language AI Literacy workshop on 13 August 2026 as one of NIECH’s ten Australian AI Literacy Hubs. The session focuses on AI safety and practical applications for residents affected by digital exclusion, including older adults, migrants and refugees. NIECH has trained more than 600 Digital Mentors since 2019, and these mentors deliver workshops at 29 Neighbourhood Houses, including the one in Box Hill South.
Free national resources available
The Be Connected Program, an Australian Government initiative run by NIECH in partnership with Good Things Foundation, supplies free digital literacy support through the same network of Neighbourhood Houses. Participants also have access to DigitalLearn.org, a self-directed platform offered in English and Spanish that includes modules on email, website navigation, apps, search engines and cybersecurity, backed by the Public Library Association.
These offerings operate alongside Box Hill High School’s 1-to-1 laptop program, which gives students access to multimedia tools and safety resources from the Department of Education & Training. The combination of in-person classes at Prospect Street, the scheduled August workshop and the mentor network supplies concrete entry points for people seeking digital skills in the local area.
