Albert Park Lake Offers 225 Hectares of Water and Trail Adventures

Albert Park Lake supplies multiple water and trail options for local residents looking for recreation within the 225-hectare reserve. Vessels for sailing, canoeing, kayaking, rowing and fishing gain access from one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset.

The reserve records over 6 million visits each year. That volume of use shows why the maintained track, picnic facilities and wetland zones stay in steady demand for daily exercise and family outings.

Water and Trail Options

A 5km track circles the lake and supports jogging, cycling and dog walking while giving views of the skyline. Nine picnic areas around the shoreline contain free electric barbecues, shelters and playground equipment. The Aughtie Drive Adventure Playground adds wooden platforms, slides and swings for children aged 2 to 12.

Fishing requires a Victorian recreational fishing licence. Species present include Rainbow Trout and Golden Perch, though the fish are not suitable for consumption and any European Carp caught must be removed. Swimming, diving or wading stays prohibited at all times.
