Box Hill Locals Discover Best July Activities Across City Parks

Box Hill opens its July seasonal activities roster on July 15 with the first of six free outdoor film screenings at Box Hill Gardens.

July marks the peak of summer programming because daylight stretches past 8 p.m. and average daytime temperatures reach 24 degrees Celsius, prompting residents to shift from indoor routines to scheduled events that run through the end of the month.

Park and plaza programs

Box Hill Gardens along Prospect Street hosts the film series every Wednesday, while the Box Hill Chamber of Commerce runs weekly markets on Station Street every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The chamber also coordinates a family bike ride starting at Civic Plaza on July 22 that covers a 12-kilometre loop through the central business district and ends with a picnic at Elgar Road Reserve.

City data shows 4,800 people registered for last July’s equivalent events, with individual workshop fees set at 12 dollars and family passes available for 35 dollars. Advance sign-ups for the 2026 bike ride close on July 18 through the chamber’s online portal.
