Broadmeadows Residents Fuel Surge in Local Tours and Hands-On Experiences
Operators report steady bookings for neighborhood walks and hands-on sessions as residents look for nearby options.
How we reported this

Broadmeadows tour operators logged a 35 percent rise in reservations for July compared with the same month last year, according to figures released by the city’s tourism office on July 10.
The increase comes as international travel faces repeated disruptions from events including the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and ongoing wildfire response in southern Europe. Residents and short-stay visitors have shifted attention to routes that stay inside city limits and require no passport checks or long flights.
Riverside and Elm Street routes
The Broadmeadows Cultural Alliance runs a daily walking tour that starts at the foot of the Riverside District footbridge and ends at the restored grain silos on Elm Street. Guides point out 19th-century warehouse conversions and stop for tastings at three food stalls that opened in the past 18 months. Separate tickets cover a two-hour bicycle loop through the Old Mill neighborhood, where participants visit a working pottery studio and a micro-roastery on Maple Lane. Both programs operate seven days a week and accept walk-up sign-ups at the alliance office on 14th Avenue.
Numbers and schedules
Each Riverside walk costs 48 dollars and caps at 12 people. The bicycle option runs 65 dollars and includes helmet and lock rental. The alliance added a 7:30 a.m. departure on weekdays after demand exceeded capacity on the previous 9 a.m. slot. Advance online booking closes 24 hours before each start time, with remaining spots released at the on-site desk. Participants receive a printed map that lists five additional self-guided stops along the same corridors.
Slots for the next two weeks remain available on the alliance website and at the 14th Avenue counter. Walkers are advised to arrive 10 minutes early and to carry water, as shaded sections are limited between the footbridge and Elm Street.
