Cranbourne Residents Join Multiple Upcoming Fun Runs and Charity Walks
Cranbourne residents can join several upcoming group runs and walks organised through local venues and clubs.
How we reported this
Three fitness events open for registration this month in Cranbourne include a 5-kilometre fun run on 25 July and two charity walks scheduled for early August.
These gatherings draw from the suburb's established pattern of residents meeting outdoors for structured exercise several times each week. Participation has grown steadily since the opening of new paths at the Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne in 2024, giving people regular options to exercise together rather than alone.
Venues and routes in Cranbourne
The 25 July fun run starts at 8am from the gardens entrance on Botanic Drive and follows the existing 5-kilometre loop through the Australian Garden section before finishing near the visitor centre. Organisers from the Cranbourne Runners group manage the course and provide water stations at the 2-kilometre and 4-kilometre marks. A separate charity walk on 2 August begins at Memorial Park on High Street and covers 3 kilometres along the shared path that connects to Camms Road, ending at the Cranbourne Leisure Centre. The event supports local youth programs and accepts donations at the finish line.
Another walk on 9 August starts from Casey Fields sports complex on Berwick-Cranbourne Road and loops through the surrounding reserve for 4 kilometres. Volunteers from the same leisure centre coordinate both August dates and supply numbered bibs to all registered walkers.
Numbers and costs
Last year's July fun run recorded 312 finishers and collected $7,800 in entry fees plus donations. Registration for the 25 July event costs $22 online through the Cranbourne Runners website or $28 on the morning of the run. The two charity walks charge a flat $15 fee, with all proceeds directed to the nominated youth fund. Participants must be 16 or older and can collect maps and timing chips from the leisure centre desk on Camms Road between 9am and 5pm on weekdays.
Anyone wanting to take part should register by 20 July for the first event and by 28 July for the later walks. Details appear on the Cranbourne Leisure Centre noticeboard and on the gardens website under the community calendar section.
