Glen Waverley Swimmers Flock to Outdoor Pools for Year-Round Lap Training

Glen Waverley residents have increased visits to outdoor lap facilities this month, with multiple sites recording higher attendance since the start of the Active Glen program on 1 July 2026.

The shift aligns with local wellness groups promoting water-based routines for joint health and endurance. Council data shows 320 participants signed up for structured lap sessions in the first week, a 22 percent rise from the same period last year.

Two standout spots near central Glen Waverley

The Syndal Rock Pool sits along High Street Road near the corner of Blackburn Road, offering natural rock formations that create protected lanes for steady swimming. Swimmers can complete 50-metre lengths in the deeper sections while staying clear of the shallower edges used by families.

Further east, the Brandon Park Outdoor Pool on Ferntree Gully Road provides eight marked lap lanes that open at 5:30am on weekdays. The facility includes a separate warm-up area and operates under the Glen Waverley Leisure Trust, which schedules adult-only hours from 7am to 9am each Tuesday and Thursday.

Entry costs and session details

Adult entry at both locations costs $7.50 per visit or $65 for a ten-visit pass purchased through the trust office on Springvale Road. The trust reported 1,450 total lap entries across its sites in the first nine days of July, according to internal attendance logs.

Residents can check daily water temperatures and lane availability on the trust website or by calling the on-site kiosk at Brandon Park. Those new to lap swimming should consult a local medical professional before starting a regular routine.

July timetables at both facilities run through to 31 August, with extended hours added on weekends to accommodate shift workers from the nearby industrial precinct on Waverley Road.
